According to border correspondent Bill Melugin, February was a record-setting month for illegal migrant encounters at the southern border; 189,922 encounters were logged, making it the highest February numbers ever recorded.
Melugin shared the CBP numbers on X.
NEW: CBP reports there were 189,922 migrant encounters at the southern border in February, the highest February ever recorded. This includes Border Patrol apprehensions & CBP One app releases & encounters at ports of entry. BP apprehended 140,644 illegal aliens in Feb., the second highest Feb. ever recorded for Border Patrol, behind 159,170 in February of fiscal year 2022.
These numbers do not include gotaways.
CBP reports there have now been 70 people on the FBI terror watchlist arrested by Border Patrol in fiscal year 2024 so far, which began on October 1st. (That data is through February and doesn’t include March).
