Following the U.S. – Russia hostage exchange Thursday night, Vice President Kamala Harris tried to speak to the press about the importance of diplomacy — but she served up some word salad instead.
Regarding the prisoner swap, Harris said: “This is just an extraordinary testament to the importance of having a president who understands the power of diplomacy and understands the strength that rests in understanding the significance of diplomacy and strengthening alliances.”

Ohio Senator and Vice Presidential nominee JD Vance shared his thoughts on the moment on X.
“It’s amazing that journalists can look themselves in the mirror while letting this person coast to a major party nomination for president,” Vance said on X. “Is anyone going to ask this person a question?”
Later he added, “Kamala sounds like a third grader giving a book report on a book she didn’t read.”
