Joe just can’t quit Big Tech.

According to reports, lawyers with the Biden Department of Justice have filed a notice of appeal in the United States District Court for the Western District of Louisiana after U.S. District Judge Terry Doughty’s order blocked government agencies from contacting social media companies.

Doughty expressed concern that the Biden Administration had violated the First Amendment rights of Americans during the pandemic.

“During the COVID-19 pandemic, a period perhaps best characterized by widespread doubt and uncertainty, the United States Government seems to have assumed a role similar to an Orwellian ‘Ministry of Truth,’” Doughty wrote.

“If the allegations made by Plaintiffs are true, the present case arguably involves the most massive attack against free speech in United States’ history,” the injunction adds. “In their attempts to suppress alleged disinformation, the Federal Government, and particularly the Defendants named here, are alleged to have blatantly ignored the First Amendment’s right to free speech.”

According to The Daily Wire, the ruling “affects specific White House officials — including Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre — and agencies and certain officials within them ranging from the Homeland Security Department, to the Health and Human Services Department, to the DOJ and FBI. The order also lists some exceptions related to flagging criminal behavior, national security concerns, and election tampering.”

Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey called the judge’s order “a huge win for the right to freely speak without government censorship.” He added, “We must build a wall of separation between tech and state to preserve our First Amendment right to free, fair, and open debate. Missouri will continue to lead the way in the fight to defend our most fundamental freedoms.”

But the Biden Admin is claiming they never sought to stifle free speech which, according to numerous leaked internal documents (thanks, Twitter files) and whistleblowers, is demonstrably false.
