Trump Talks Abortion: Don Says Abortion Should Be Left to States, 'Will of the People' [Watch]

By Eric Bolling Staff

NEW YORK, NEW YORK - MARCH 25: Former President Donald Trump speaks during a press conference at 40 Wall Street after a pre-trial hearing on March 25, 2024 in New York City. Judge Juan Merchan scheduled Trump's criminal trial to begin on April 15, which would make it the first criminal prosecution of a former American president. Trump was charged with 34 counts of falsifying business records last year, which prosecutors say was an effort to hide a potential sex scandal, both before and after the 2016 election. Former President and 2024 GOP nominee Donald Trump released a video statement Monday morning expressing support for states’ rights when it comes to abortion law. Trump also encouraged the GOP to not take such extreme positions on the issue.

“The states will determine by vote, or legislation, or perhaps both, and whatever they decide must be the law of the land – in this case, the law of the state,” Trump said. Many states will be different. Many states will have a different number of weeks…at the end of the day it is all about the will of the people.”

“The Republican Party should always be on the side of the miracle of life and the side of mothers, fathers and their beautiful babies. IVF is an important part of that,” Trump said.

“My view is now that we have abortion where everyone wanted it from a legal standpoint, the states will determine by vote or legislation, or perhaps both. And whatever they decide must be the law of the land. In this case, the law of the state,” Trump said in a video message posted to his TRUTH Social page.

Democrats are betting on abortion being a huge motivator to get voters to the polls in November; Trump is seemingly trying to pull his party towards the center.
