During Tuesday’s Senate Judiciary Committee hearing in the Hart Senate Office Building on Capitol Hill, Missouri Senator Josh Hawley questioned FBI Director Christopher Wray about the infamous anti-Catholic memo.
“How many other parishes around the country have had priests or choir directors approached —by the way, are Catholic choirs breeding grounds for domestic terrorism now? Is this your latest theory? How many other parishes have FBI agents approached priests and choir directors to ask about parishioners?” Hawley asks Wray.
Wray denied conducting investigations on Americans who are exercising their constitutional rights.
“You have been!” Hawley fired back. “You say you don’t like couches —they’re listed in the memo!”
The fiery exchange wrapped with Wray admitting he doesn’t know how many priests and choir directors have been approached by agents.
