During Wednesday’s House Judiciary Committee hearing on the assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump, Florida Rep. Matt Gaetz took the opportunity to question FBI Director Christopher Wray about Joe Biden’s decline.
“I want to zoom out a little bit. How often do you brief President Biden?” Gaetz asked Wray.
“It’s not at a regular cadence,” Wray answered. “There have been times when it’s been months at a time when I haven’t and there have been times when it’s been several days apart.”
“When did you notice his decline?” Gaetz asked.
“In my interactions with the current president, all my interactions have been completely professional,” Wray answered, adding it’s not something that he’s observed.
“We’ve had it observed so often that the ranking member and Mr. Schiff on this committee have said that he could no longer continue as a candidate. Since you’re the FBI Director, I was just sort of wondering who’s running the country?” Gaetz asked. “If something bad happened, you’d have to go bried President Biden about it right now?”
“On any number of occasions, I have briefed the president and those briefings have been unremarkable and uneventful,” Wray answered.
“I take you at your word when you say this is the most complicated threat environment you have ever observed over a long career in law enforcement. And I’m just wondering, with this assassination attempt, with invasion at our border, with all the Hamas let in that you’ve talked about and been briefed about — is Biden up to it?” Gaetz asked. “And, if he’s not up to it, and you’re a guy who has regularly been briefing him, who’s been in on this conspiracy to hide the real Joe Biden from all of us for years?”
