The group is just three months old…

This week, the Kamala Harris campaign celebrated the endorsement of Police Leaders for Community Safety — a group that “normally” endorses Donald Trump, many of the headlines read.

There’s only one problem — the group formed in June of 2024.

The fact that the group is new and only represents a few dozen people didn’t stop USA Today from shouting the news from the mountaintop:

A group of national law enforcement leaders have endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris weeks after the National Fraternal Order of Police backed former President Donald Trump.

The group, Police Leaders for Community Safety, was created in 2024 as a non-partisan 501(c)4, and describes itself as an organization that represents dozens of police officials. In a press release Monday, chairwoman Sue Riseling expressed the organization’s support for Harris.

X users were quick to call out the endorsement for what it is.
