Hawkeye Senator Joni Ernst is taking a unique approach to celebrating the holidays this year — she’s compiled a list of the top 12 agencies wasting taxpayer dollars.
It’s called Senator Ernst’s 12 Agencies of Christmas.
From The Daily Caller:
Ernst has been cracking down on government agencies that are occupying even half their office space, and has called on agencies to have their employees show back up to work in person. In August, Ernst demanded investigations into 24 federal departments and agencies see what the impact of telework has been.
At the beginning of December, Ernst released a naughty list of the no-show federal agencies. Ernst found that both the Department of Housing and Urban Development and the Social Security Administration are using just 7% of their space which is being paid for by taxpayers.
“It is 12 days until Christmas. For the next 12 days, I will be highlighting the 12 agencies that have the most unused office space here in Washington, DC. If President Biden won’t bring his bureaucrats back and fill these offices and work for our hardworking taxpayers, then we should do the right thing and sell off the unused office space,” Ernst said in the video.
We are officially 1️⃣2️⃣ days out from Christmas!
Over the next 12 days, I’ll be highlighting the 12 federal agencies utilizing the LEAST amount of their taxpayer-funded office space.#12AgenciesOfChristmas 🎄 pic.twitter.com/KAlXz1trSF
